The Omnia

The Omnia sits on a rocky outcrop above Zermatt's village centre, reached by a short uphill walk or a private rock-cut elevator that lifts guests directly from street level into the lobby. The car-free resort's train station, where the shuttle from Täsch arrives, is roughly ten minutes away on foot. Designed by Ali Tayar, the hotel pairs blackened Norwegian timber with raw local stone and glass, producing an austere, design-forward alpine aesthetic that stands apart from Zermatt's chalet-style grand hotels. Every room and suite is oriented to frame the Matterhorn, with floor-to-ceiling windows, open fireplaces, and minimalist furnishings in natural materials. The split-level lounge and library areas encourage lingering, with low sofas, a central fireplace, and a self-service bar on the honour system. Dining centres on a single restaurant serving modern European dishes built around Valais produce, alongside a lively bar that draws both guests and visiting skiers. The panoramic spa occupies the upper floor, with a heated infinity pool, sauna, and treatment rooms that look directly at the mountain. Service is personalised rather than formal, with a concierge team well versed in mountain logistics, heli-skiing arrangements, and restaurant bookings, and dedicated ski storage for winter visitors. Suites add separate living areas and deeper soaking tubs positioned to face the mountain, and several connect directly to private outdoor terraces for guests wanting their own slice of the panorama away from the communal spa deck.
