Navarre (Navarra / Nafarroa) is an autonomous community in northern Spain that packs an extraordinary range of landscapes and cultures into one compact region — from the high Pyrenean passes where pilgrims begin the Camino de Santiago, through ancient beech forests and dramatic badlands, to the fertile Ebro valley wine country. Pamplona, the vibrant capital, is world-famous for the Sanfermines festival and its thundering Running of the Bulls each July, but the city rewards visitors year-round with a well-preserved medieval centre, thriving pintxos culture, and easy access to wild Navarrese countryside.
Navarre is well connected by road and has an efficient bus network for inter-city travel. Pamplona Airport (PNA) offers domestic flights; international visitors typically arrive via Madrid-Barajas (MAD) or Barcelona (BCN) and continue by bus or car. Within Pamplona, the urban bus network covers the city efficiently. A rental car is strongly recommended for exploring the Pyrenees, Bardenas Reales, Irati Forest, and rural valleys not served by public transport.

Transport tips
Travel smarter, not harder.
There is no train service between Pamplona and most Navarrese towns — buses are the primary public transport option
Pamplona Bus Station (Calle Yanguas y Miranda 2, open daily 7:00 AM – 9:30 PM) is the hub for all regional and national services
During Sanfermines (July 6–14) roads into Pamplona are restricted early morning for the encierro — plan around 7:45–9:00 AM road closures
The A-15 free highway to Olite and Tudela is faster than the AP-15 toll road for most journeys from Pamplona
Rent a car for a dedicated Bardenas Reales day — the loop circuit inside the desert park is 30 km of unpaved track (standard car fine; avoid after heavy rain)
