Mercado de Motores is Madrid's most distinctive monthly vintage and antique market, held on the second weekend of each month inside the atmospheric Museo del Ferrocarril de Madrid — the city's railway museum — at Paseo de las Delicias 61 in the Delicias neighbourhood. The market takes its name from the collection of historic locomotives and railway carriages that share the space with vendors, creating a visual backdrop unlike any other market in Spain.

The market operates across the museum's historic engine shed, a spectacular late-nineteenth-century iron-and-glass structure that provides covered shelter regardless of weather. Approximately 100–150 vendors set up beneath the vaulted roof and the parked steam engines, selling a curated selection of vintage fashion, mid-century furniture, vinyl records, photography, illustration, handmade jewellery, ceramics, and one-off craft items. The mix leans toward designer vintage and independent makers rather than pure flea-market collectibles, attracting a younger, design-conscious Madrid crowd alongside dedicated antique hunters.

Product quality is generally high, and the market's reputation for curation means vendors are selective in what they bring. Authentic vintage pieces dominate the clothing section, with a strong showing of 1970s–1990s denim, leather goods, and sportswear alongside mid-century homewares and retro ceramics. Bargaining is acceptable, though vendors — many of whom are independent designers rather than professional traders — tend to price fairly from the outset. Cash is preferred across most stalls, though some younger vendors accept card via mobile payment readers.

Beyond shopping, Mercado de Motores functions as a social and cultural event. A food zone serves street food, artisan beers, vermouth, and coffee throughout both days, and live music or DJ sets frequently accompany the Saturday programme. Entry to the market is paid — typically €2–4 — with proceeds partially supporting the museum, and the ticket also includes access to the railway museum collection. The combination of vintage shopping, museum browsing, food, and music makes it a full afternoon's outing.

Visitors from central Madrid can reach the Delicias area via metro Line 3 (Delicias stop), a 15-minute journey from Callao. The market does not take place every weekend; confirming dates via the official channels before visiting is essential.
