Kid-Friendly Dining
Where to eat with children.
Most Spanish restaurants warmly welcome children at all hours — don't worry about bringing children to dinner at 21:00
High chairs (tronas) are available at most sit-down restaurants — ask 'tiene trona?' when being seated
Children's menus (menú infantil) typically cost €8–€12 and include a small portion, drink, and dessert
The Menú del Día (set lunch) is excellent value for families — €10–€12 per adult with multiple courses; children's portions often halved in price
Pizza and pasta restaurants are plentiful in Malasaña, Chueca, and around Gran Vía for fussy eaters
McDonald's, Burger King, and Foster's Hollywood are widespread and reliable fallback options for tired children or late arrivals
Family Travel Tips
Make traveling with kids easier.
Buy a Madrid Card (€47 for 1 day or €67 for 3 days) for families — it includes unlimited metro transport and free/discounted entry to 50+ attractions; the savings are significant with multiple children
Madrid's metro is stroller-friendly with lifts at most major stations; check the metro map for accessibility symbols before planning journeys
August in Madrid can be extremely hot (35–40°C) and challenging for young children — consider visiting in May–June or September–October for more comfortable temperatures
The Retiro Park is perfect for a full family day — free playgrounds, puppet shows, rowing boats, the Crystal Palace, and shaded walkways all in one safe space
Parque de Atracciones amusement park requires height requirements for some rides — check the website before purchasing tickets if you have very young children
Many attractions offer family tickets — always ask 'tienen precio familiar?' (do you have a family price?) before paying adult rates for each person
