El Trebol Bar sits on Plaza Mayor in Cuenca, Castile-La Mancha, one of Spain's most architecturally dramatic city squares, ringed by medieval buildings and directly facing the Gothic cathedral. Terrace tables spread across the plaza frontage, giving the bar some of the finest position-based views of any drinking venue in the region — the cathedral facade, the surrounding arcade, and the mountain-and-gorge backdrop that defines Cuenca's UNESCO World Heritage skyline are all visible from the outdoor seats. The crowd is eclectic and relaxed: Cuenca locals mix with domestic and international visitors drawn to the city's heritage, and El Trebol Bar remains one of the few plaza-facing venues that holds its prices at an everyday level rather than extracting a premium for the location. Drinks range from €2–€3 per serve. No dress code applies; the bar operates with an open, neighbourhood character despite the high-profile square. The drinks programme leads with vermouth — red and white styles served with ice and garnish in the traditional Spanish aperitivo format — alongside draught beer, an affordable Castilian wine selection, and soft drinks. Tapas are available throughout the day from 10:00 and include tortilla española, montaditos, and regional cheese; the kitchen does not close between the lunch and dinner windows. The bar opens at 10:00 and runs until 02:00 daily, covering morning coffee, midday aperitivo, afternoon drinks, and a late-night session after the evening meal. Terrace tables are the most sought-after and fill quickly on weekends from around 12:30 during the vermouth hour. Weekend evenings from 22:00 onwards see a livelier, younger crowd as locals begin the post-dinner promenade around the square. No cover charge applies and no reservation system is in place.
