Seoul Backpackers

Seoul Backpackers is located near Dongdaemun in Jongno-gu, within walking distance of the Dongdaemun Design Plaza and the district's round-the-clock fashion wholesale markets, and close to Dongdaemun History & Culture Park subway station, giving guests easy access to both late-night shopping and the subway network into the rest of the city. The building is a straightforward converted hostel property, its appeal resting on atmosphere and staff-run activities rather than architecture or design. Rooms are mixed and single-sex dormitories alongside a small number of private rooms, all with shared bathrooms and a communal kitchen for basic self-catering. There is no restaurant on site, but a rooftop terrace serves as the hostel's main gathering spot, and the surrounding Dongdaemun market area offers extensive street food into the early hours. The hostel has no pool, spa, or fitness center. Its defining service feature is an active program of organized excursions, including day trips to the DMZ and Nami Island, plus cooking classes and temple visits, run by staff who cater specifically to younger, social travelers wanting structured ways to explore beyond central Seoul. The Dongdaemun location also puts the hostel a short subway ride from major sights like Changdeokgung and the historic city wall, without the higher room rates charged closer to those landmarks.
