The Silo Hotel

The Silo Hotel occupies the top six floors of the old Grain Silo Complex at the V&A Waterfront, directly above the Zeitz Museum of Contemporary Art Africa and a short walk from the Waterfront's harbour, shops, and restaurants; Table Mountain and the city centre are both within a ten-minute drive. The building was a working grain elevator until the early 2000s, and the conversion kept the raw concrete of the original structure while cutting more than 50 hand-faceted bubble-glass windows into the facade, giving the hotel a striking industrial-meets-art-deco character unlike anything else in Cape Town. There are only 28 rooms and suites spread across six floors, ranging from Luxury Suites to two-bedroom Royal Suites, Family Duplex Suites, and a top-floor Penthouse, each with the signature bulging windows framing views of Table Mountain, Lion's Head, or the harbour. The hotel restaurant serves contemporary South African cuisine built around Cape Malay and Karoo influences, and the bar looks out over the grain silo's original elevator shafts. A heated rooftop pool, spa treatment rooms, and a small gym sit on the upper floors with 360-degree views. Every room includes a dedicated butler, and the small guest count means the concierge team can arrange bespoke itineraries, art tours through Zeitz MOCAA (to which guests have direct lift access), and private transfers, making it better suited to couples and design-minded travellers than large families.
