Plečnik House stands in the Trnovo district, south of the Old Town, and was the home and studio of Jože Plečnik for more than three decades, from 1921 until his death in 1957. The architect, born in Ljubljana in 1872 and trained under Otto Wagner in Vienna, also worked in Prague and Belgrade before returning to his home town, where he planned bridges, squares, a library and parks. The house combines a 19th-century villa with a circular studio extension, called the cylinder, that Plečnik added himself. Inside, visitors see preserved rooms with his furniture, personal belongings, a bedroom, a kitchen and workspace, plus a garden and a collection of models and drawings. The museum is managed by the Museum and Galleries of Ljubljana (MGML) and entry is by guided tour, with times posted on its website. The house is part of the UNESCO listing of Plečnik's works. Trnovo Church, which he redesigned, is nearby, and the Špica riverside is a short walk.
