Leopold I Hotel takes its name from the Habsburg emperor whose engineers designed Petrovaradin Fortress across the Danube in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The hotel sits at Preradovićeva 2 on the Petrovaradin side of the river, directly at the foot of the fortress hill, placing guests within a three-minute walk of the fortress entrance and the casements housing galleries, artist studios, and a local history museum. The bridge back across to Novi Sad's pedestrian centre and Freedom Square takes about 10 minutes on foot.

The property operates from a converted residential building refitted with a boutique sensibility — exposed stone walls in common areas, dark-wood furniture, and architectural details that reference the fortress aesthetic without heavy-handed theming. The scale is intimate, with a small number of rooms that contrast sharply with the fortress's imposing presence on the hill above.
