Climate Overview
Moscow has a humid continental climate (Dfb) with warm summers and very cold winters. Summers (June-August) are warm with temperatures around 20-25°C and up to 17 hours of daylight. Winters are harsh with average temperatures of -5 to -10°C and significant snowfall. Spring and autumn are pleasant shoulder seasons. Moscow does not have the extreme sub-zero winters of Siberia but is genuinely very cold December through February.

🌸 Spring
March-May
Spring arrives slowly with March still cold and snowy. April sees gradual warming and snow melt. By May, temperatures reach 15-20°C with parks flowering and Muscovites emerging enthusiastically. May is one of the best months to visit.

June-August
Warm sunny weather with very long daylight hours (up to 17 hours in June). Peak tourist season with temperatures 20-28°C. Occasional heatwaves can push temperatures to 30-35°C. The city feels vibrant with outdoor events.

September-November
September is beautiful with warm days (15-20°C), golden foliage, and fewer tourists than summer. October becomes cool and increasingly rainy. November is cold, grey, and the onset of winter feel. First snows often in November.

December-February
Very cold with heavy snow and temperatures averaging -5 to -15°C, dropping to -20°C or below in extreme cold snaps. However, Moscow transforms into a magical winter city with Christmas markets (Yolki markets), outdoor ice rinks at Red Square and VDNKH, and New Year festivities.
