Bon Bon Restaurant, near Carvoeiro in the Lagoa municipality, holds a Michelin star under chef Louis Anjos and is widely regarded as one of the hardest tables to secure on the Algarve's western coast. The kitchen focuses tightly on locally sourced ingredients — Algarvian fish, shellfish and carob among them — reworked through contemporary Mediterranean technique into a tasting-menu format that changes with the seasons. Signature dishes include a cataplana of local fish reinterpreted with lighter, more refined saucing than the rustic original, and an Algarve carob dessert finished with sea salt that has become something of a calling card for the kitchen. The dining room seats only around eight tables, giving the space an unusually intimate, almost private feel; the atmosphere is quietly formal without being stuffy, and the small scale of the room means guests are aware of the kitchen's rhythm throughout the meal. The wine list is compact but well-chosen, with a focus on smaller Portuguese producers that pair closely with the tasting menu's structure. Because of the restaurant's tiny footprint, reservations are exceptionally difficult to secure and should be made a month or more in advance for peak summer dates; the tasting menu is effectively the only way to dine here, with limited or no à la carte alternative.
