Conrad Algarve is located on the edge of Quinta do Lago, the Algarve's most exclusive private estate, near the town of Almancil and approximately 20 kilometres west of Faro International Airport. The hotel adjoins the Ria Formosa natural park and is within a short drive of the San Lorenzo and Quinta do Lago South golf courses, two of southern Portugal's most respected layouts.
Designed by Portuguese architect Gonçalo Byrne and opened in 2012, the building is a study in geometric concrete and glass, deliberately avoiding historical pastiche in favour of clean contemporary lines. The atrium lobby features a large copper sculptural centrepiece and rotating exhibitions of Portuguese contemporary art. The 154 rooms and suites follow a high-spec residential aesthetic with bespoke furniture, floor-to-ceiling windows and marble bathrooms; upper-floor rooms look across the estate's natural lagoon toward the Ria Formosa.
Ocean restaurant, helmed by chef Hans Neuner, holds two Michelin stars and serves tasting menus built around Algarve fishing-port catches and coastal market produce. Gusto restaurant provides Mediterranean-inspired casual dining by the pool terrace, and the Lounge & Bar serves cocktails and light fare throughout the day with views over the outdoor pool.
The spa covers over 1,500 square metres with six treatment rooms, a hydrotherapy pool, Finnish sauna, steam room and a well-equipped gym with Technogym machines. The outdoor pool terrace overlooks the estate's lagoon. A dedicated golf concierge desk handles tee-time bookings, club hire and caddy arrangements across the major Quinta do Lago and Vale de Lobo courses.
The hotel also serves a substantial business-travel market: a fully equipped business centre and flexible meeting rooms accommodate executive events and corporate retreats. Faro Airport is approximately 20 minutes by road.
