Ponta da Piedade Cliff Walk

The Ponta da Piedade Cliff Walk runs about 4km return along the clifftops south of Lagos, starting near the Praia do Camilo car park, reachable by a short drive or a walkable distance from Lagos town centre and its train station. No permit is required; the route follows a paved and dirt clifftop path maintained by the local council. Elevation gain is modest, around 50m, with a short flight of wooden steps down to Praia do Camilo the only notable descent; the surface is a mix of paved promenade near the start and packed dirt clifftop path further along, with essentially no shade throughout. The path runs close to unfenced cliff edges in several places, so care is needed, particularly with children or in windy conditions. Landmarks include the golden sea stacks and grottoes of Ponta da Piedade visible from the clifftops, the descent option to the sheltered cove of Praia do Camilo, and the lighthouse at the walk's end, which is also a popular boat-tour departure point for viewing the rock formations from the water. Walkers can turn back at any point, as the entire route stays within sight of the starting car park. There are no water sources or shelters along the path; Lagos town has cafés and shops at the trailhead.
