Bar Studio is a cocktail bar and music venue located inside the Palace of Culture and Science at Plac Defilad 1, in the centre of Warsaw, Poland. The Palace is the city's most recognisable landmark, and drinking in its Stalin-era interior gives the venue a distinct character that sets it apart from the bars of nearby Nowy Świat or Plac Zbawiciela. The crowd is a blend of locals from the surrounding downtown offices, students, theatre and cinema-goers from the Palace's cultural venues, and tourists who have just visited the building. The atmosphere is informal and sociable, with a dress code that is relaxed; neat casual clothing is fine. Age range is broadly twenties to forties. Music leans towards DJ sets and recorded playlists in the evenings, with the venue operating as a bar first and a dance space second, and programming varies by night. The drinks programme is built around cocktails, supported by Polish beer, wine and spirits, with prices in the middle of the Warsaw range, rated two dollar signs. A cocktail usually costs somewhere around PLN 30-45. Listed hours are 4PM to 2AM daily, so the bar suits an early evening aperitif as well as a late drink.
