Lesser Poland (Małopolska) is a historic voivodeship in southern Poland anchored by the royal city of Kraków, one of Europe's most beautiful medieval capitals. The region encompasses dramatic landscapes ranging from the Tatra Mountains and Pieniny range in the south to rolling Jurassic limestone uplands in the north, dotted with castles, salt mines, and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. With more UNESCO-listed sites than any other Polish region, world-class cuisine, and a vibrant cultural scene, Lesser Poland is Poland's premier travel destination.

Bargaining Tips
How to negotiate prices in local markets.
Bargaining is NOT expected at standard shops, restaurants, or mall stores - prices are fixed
At outdoor markets (Stary Kleparz, Plac Nowy, Nowy Targ) and souvenir stalls, politely asking for 'a better price' or 'any discount for cash' can sometimes yield 10-20% reduction
Buying multiple items from the same stall often opens room for negotiation
Always compare amber prices between Cloth Hall stalls - significant price variation for similar items
When NOT to Bargain
- Fixed-price shops and malls
- Government emporiums
- Restaurants and hotels
- Supermarkets and pharmacies
