Tufi Dive Resort

Tufi Dive Resort is located on the Tufi Peninsula in Oro Province, a narrow fjord-like cape whose deeply incised coastline is geologically unusual for the Pacific — the submerged walls of these former river valleys create the vertical coral drop-offs that distinguish Tufi diving from reef environments found elsewhere in Papua New Guinea. The resort is accessible by light aircraft from Port Moresby in approximately one hour, or by charter boat; there is no sealed road connection, which enforces the property's isolation and preserves the environmental integrity of the surrounding area.

Accommodation consists of traditional-style timber bungalows spread across the headland, each with a private bathroom and a verandah with views over the fjord or bay. The architectural treatment draws from Orokaiva building traditions while incorporating modern bathrooms and a reliable electrical supply. All-inclusive packages cover accommodation, meals, guided dives, and cultural activities; the main dining area is an open-sided pavilion serving three meals daily, with an emphasis on locally sourced fish, root crops, and tropical produce supplemented by imported goods.

The dive program is operated directly by the resort and PADI-accredited. Site variety is exceptional — shallow coral gardens, vertical fjord walls, World War II aircraft and vessel wrecks, and blue-water drift dives are all accessible within a short boat ride. Non-diving guests can participate in guided fjord kayaking, village visits to nearby Orokaiva communities, traditional tattooing demonstrations performed by local women using hereditary methods, and rainforest walks. The resort has limited wi-fi and mobile connectivity given its remote location; guests should prepare for genuine digital disconnection during their stay.
