A canyon of tall rock walls, palms and emerald pools reached by an off-road track from Highway 17, less visited than Wadi Shab. The walk involves rock climbing and wading through ponds, and takes at least three hours; the access track is rough and is usually driven in a 4x4 or done with a guided tour. Signage is poor and map apps may route incorrectly, so follow the physical signposts from the junction on Highway 17.

Wadi Al Arbeieen is a canyon of tall rock walls, palms and emerald pools in Muscat Governorate, near Fins Beach and Bimmah, about 1.5 to 2 hours southeast of Muscat in Oman. It is far less visited than nearby Wadi Shab. Access is by an off-road track of roughly 15 km that leaves Highway 17, and the track is rough enough that a 4x4 is recommended; many visitors instead join a guided tour from Muscat, which usually pairs the canyon with Bimmah Sinkhole and Fins Beach. Signage is poor and map apps may route incorrectly, so visitors should follow the physical signposts from the junction on Highway 17 and download an offline map before leaving the highway. No permit is known to be required.

The walk is not published with a precise distance, but at least three hours should be allowed for the full canyon. Elevation gain is modest and comes from short rock climbs rather than a sustained ascent. The surface is a mix of boulders, bedrock slabs and shallow ponds, and the route requires wading and scrambling over wet rock, so the effort is rated moderate despite the short distance. Shade is intermittent: the high canyon walls shelter much of the route, while the approach and the exposed rock sections can be hot.

The main attractions are the sheer canyon walls, the date palms at the wadi floor, and the series of emerald-green pools that must be waded or swum between sections. Visitors turn around when pools become too deep, or when the rock climbs exceed their comfort; there is no formal shelter or refuge hut. No drinking water is available in the wadi, so water and snacks must be carried in. A dry bag is useful for phones and cameras, and shoes that can get wet are essential.

The canyon should be avoided after rain. The access road floods near its end, and the wadi can flash-flood from rain falling far upstream in the mountains. Mobile coverage may be patchy, so travelling in a group or with a local guide is sensible. Modest quick-dry clothing over swimwear is appropriate in this conservative country.
