1000 Nights Camp sits in a hollow among the dunes of Wahiba Sands (Sharqiya Sands), reached via a sand track from the village of Al Mintrib in Ash Sharqiyah South, roughly 220 kilometres from Muscat via Highway 23 and regional roads through Ibra. The final approach requires a 4WD vehicle; the camp can arrange transfers from Al Mintrib for guests who arrive by standard car.
Accommodation consists of raised timber-platform tents with canvas walls and roofs, furnished with proper beds — not ground sleeping mats — along with small bedside tables, battery-powered lanterns, and hanging storage. Bathrooms are communal blocks located a short walk from the tent areas, maintained to a functional standard. A small number of larger family tents with partition screens can sleep three to four people.
Rates are all-inclusive for most guests, covering a set-menu dinner and breakfast served in the central communal tent — a palm-pole structure lit with lanterns and decorated with Omani weavings. Dinners typically feature slow-cooked Omani lamb, rice, flatbreads, fresh salads, and fruit. The atmosphere around the evening campfire is one of the camp's most consistent draws; guests from different parties tend to mix freely.
Desert activities included in the rate are camel riding at sunrise and sunset, dune-bashing in the camp's 4WD vehicles, sandboarding on the surrounding ridges, and guided walks among the dunes. After dark, the complete absence of artificial light creates excellent natural stargazing conditions; staff identify constellations for interested guests on clear nights. Mobile reception is intermittent and WiFi is limited to a shared connection in the communal area.
The camp is suited to travellers seeking a genuine desert night without the premium cost of higher-end glamping facilities. It is less appropriate for guests who require accessible infrastructure or private bathroom arrangements.
