Elegushi Beach Sunset

Elegushi Beach in Ikate, Lekki Phase 1, is a privately managed Atlantic-facing beach popular for its wide sand stretch, beach bars, and horseback riding along the shore. Facing west toward the open ocean, the beach gives a clean, unobstructed sunset with the sun dropping directly into the horizon over the water, and the wide sand foreground allows for both minimalist compositions and shots incorporating beach horses, umbrellas, or fishing boats for scale. Golden hour into sunset, roughly 5:30-6:30PM, gives warm side light turning to backlight as the sun nears the horizon; a neutral density filter helps smooth incoming waves into long-exposure streaks if desired. The dry season from November to March offers the clearest horizon with less atmospheric haze, producing sharper sunset color, while harmattan dust in the driest months can occasionally mute colors. The beach draws a moderate weekend crowd, especially in the late afternoon as visitors gather for sunset, so arriving slightly early secures an open stretch of sand for a tripod. There is an entrance fee to access Elegushi Beach as it is privately managed, and tripods are permitted for personal use; sea spray and blown sand warrant a lens cloth and some equipment caution.
