Kano is northern Nigeria's largest city and a former Hausa city-state, known for its medieval walled old city, Emir's Palace, Kurmi Market and centuries-old indigo dye pits.
Kano has a hot semi-arid Sahel-savanna climate with a dry season of roughly October to May and a rainy season from about June to September. Harmattan dust-laden winds bring haze and cool nights from December to February, and March to May is the hottest period.
