The original structure was an Augustinian convent, and portions of the 17th-century stonework, carved wooden columns, and arched passageways have been preserved throughout the property. León is Nicaragua's intellectual and revolutionary capital, home to the National Autonomous University of Nicaragua (UNAN-León) and historically associated with the Sandinista movement and Nicaragua's literary tradition.
The hotel's 21 rooms are arranged around two traditional central courtyards planted with tropical trees and flowering plants; a modest outdoor pool occupies the second courtyard.
