Azur Lodge is set on a hillside above Sunshine Bay, a few minutes' drive from central Queenstown along the lake's edge, with panoramic views over Lake Wakatipu, Cecil and Walter Peaks, and the Remarkables. The property is a contemporary architectural lodge of nine freestanding villas, designed with extensive glazing to draw the landscape into each room rather than relying on a historic building or grand communal hall. Each villa is a self-contained suite with a king bed, separate living area, floor-to-ceiling windows, an open fireplace, and a private outdoor hot tub on its own deck, with the upper-terrace villas commanding the widest lake views. There is no central restaurant; instead, a chef-prepared breakfast is delivered to each villa, and the lodge's small team can arrange in-villa dinners or recommend and book Queenstown's restaurants. Wellness facilities are built into each villa via the private hot tub rather than a shared spa or pool. Service is intimate and high-touch, with butler service, a daily shuttle into Queenstown, and a low guest count that keeps the lodge quiet and adult-focused, making it best suited to couples, honeymooners, and travellers prioritising privacy over hotel-style amenities. The hillside setting also means the lodge benefits from afternoon sun and shelter from the wind that can sweep across the lake basin lower down.
