Auckland Weather & Climate Guide 2025

Plan your trip with detailed weather information and seasonal tips for Auckland.

Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and a vibrant metropolis set between two harbours, offering a unique blend of Pacific cultures, world-class dining, and easy access to stunning natural landscapes. Known as the 'City of Sails', it serves as New Zealand's main international gateway and commercial hub.

Best Time to Visit

Months to Avoid

June to August

Auckland's wettest and coldest months with short daylight hours; outdoor activities and ferry services can be disrupted by heavy rain and wind

Climate Overview

Auckland has a temperate maritime climate with warm, humid summers and mild, wet winters. The city receives rainfall year-round as it sits on a narrow isthmus exposed to both the Tasman Sea and Pacific Ocean. Auckland's climate is often described as changeable — locals say you can experience four seasons in one day. The UV index is extremely high year-round due to the thinning ozone layer above New Zealand.
