Hotel TwentySeven occupies the upper floors of a classical building at Dam 27, with a direct frontage onto Dam Square — Amsterdam's historic central square and the symbolic heart of the city. The Royal Palace of Amsterdam, which dominates the western side of the square, is visible from the hotel's terrace and from the rooms that face the square. The Nieuwe Kerk is adjacent to the Royal Palace. Amsterdam Centraal station is a twelve-minute walk north along the Damrak, and Kalverstraat — the principal shopping street — begins directly from the square.

The building's façade blends with the 19th-century streetscape of the Dam, presenting no obvious outward indication of what lies within. The hotel opened in 2017 and was conceived as an ultra-exclusive urban retreat with only 27 suites — a deliberate contrast to the scale of the grand hotels that dominate Amsterdam's luxury market. The interiors were designed in a contemporary townhouse style with dark lacquered walls, burnished brass fittings, velvet upholstery, and hand-selected art and antiques. Each suite is individually configured and named rather than numbered, and each has a distinct character.

All 27 accommodation units are suites, ranging from Junior Suites of approximately 45 square metres to the TwentySeven Suite, which spans multiple rooms including a private dining area and terrace overlooking the Dam. Dam Square-facing suites offer a direct view of the Royal Palace and the monument at the square's centre; a handful of suites face the internal courtyard for a quieter outlook. Beds are custom-made, linens are from Frette, and each suite receives a personalised welcome arrangement tailored to the guest's preferences documented at booking.

A personal butler is assigned to each guest for the duration of their stay — not a shared team but a single dedicated individual who handles all requests, from dinner reservations to late-night snack delivery and early-morning coffee timing. Brasserie TwentySeven on the ground floor serves modern European cuisine with a menu that changes seasonally; the terrace faces Dam Square and is one of the most prominent alfresco dining positions in central Amsterdam. The bar programme is developed around Dutch gins and classic cocktails.

The hotel does not have a spa or pool, consistent with its urban townhouse character and building footprint. For wellness, the concierge team arranges priority access to partner facilities across the city including the Conservatorium's Akasha spa and standalone private fitness studios. The hotel is entirely non-smoking, has no conference facilities, and does not accept group bookings — all policies that reinforce its positioning as a private retreat for individual travellers and couples.

The guest profile skews toward experienced luxury travellers seeking privacy, personalisation, and city-centre positioning over resort-style amenities. The hotel's location on the Dam makes it simultaneously central and distinctive — Dam Square is a major tourist thoroughfare, but the building's private entrance and small scale mean that TwentySeven guests enter a separate world from the activity below.
