Riad Farnatchi

Riad Farnatchi is tucked down Derb el Farnatchi off Qaat Benahid in the northern Medina, a walkable but winding route from the souks around Bab Doukkala and roughly 20 minutes on foot to Jemaa el-Fnaa. The property was created from several adjoining traditional houses restored around a series of interlinked courtyards, and its interiors favour a pared-back, minimalist take on Moroccan design over the ornate palace look of larger hotels, with white tadelakt walls, dark wood and antique furnishings. All nine suites are generously sized, several with private plunge pools or fireplaces, and furnished individually rather than to a standard template. There is no full restaurant, but breakfast and light meals are served on the rooftop terrace, which looks out over the Medina toward the Koutoubia Mosque and the Atlas Mountains on clear days. A hammam and spa treatments are available on-site. Service is personal and high-ratio given the small number of suites, with a concierge team that arranges Medina guides, drivers and restaurant bookings, making it well suited to couples and small groups who want an intimate riad stay with hotel-level service. Because the property holds only nine suites, common areas such as the courtyards and rooftop rarely feel crowded, and staff can typically accommodate personalised requests, from private dinners to early check-in, more readily than larger hotels nearby.
