Marrakesh-Safi is Morocco's most visited region, anchored by Marrakesh — the Red City — a UNESCO World Heritage medina teeming with souks, palaces, and the legendary Jemaa el-Fna square. Beyond the city, the region spans from the High Atlas Mountains to the Atlantic coast at Essaouira, offering everything from quad biking in the Agafay Desert to surfing at Sidi Kaouki.

Tips for visiting attractions
Make the most of your sightseeing time.
Dress modestly in the Medina — shoulders and knees covered is recommended for both men and women; this is especially important near mosques.
Carry small change in dirhams (MAD) for tips, café stops, and market purchases; ATMs are plentiful in Gueliz but rare deep inside the Medina.
Bargaining is customary in the souks — start at roughly 30–50% of the asking price and negotiate from there; always stay polite and good-humoured.
Hire a licensed guide (identifiable by their official badge) for Medina tours to get the most from the historic sites and avoid persistent unofficial 'guides'.
Visit most attractions in the morning: cooler temperatures, better light for photography, and smaller crowds before midday tour buses arrive.
Buy a combined ticket for Ben Youssef Madrasa and the Museum of Marrakesh to save money.
Book the Musée Yves Saint Laurent and Majorelle Garden online in advance during peak season (March–May, October) as tickets sell out.
Jemaa el-Fna transforms dramatically after dark; the afternoon snake charmers give way to evening food stalls and musicians — experience both.
Respect prayer times: the call to prayer (adhan) sounds five times daily; give space to worshippers and note that some stalls near mosques close briefly.
Water is safe from sealed bottles (widely sold); tap water is not recommended for visitors unfamiliar with it.
