Visitors can see women demonstrating the labor-intensive process of cracking argan nuts by hand between stones before the kernels are ground and pressed, a craft historically passed down through generations and increasingly organized into cooperatives that provide steady income and literacy training for members. The shop sells culinary argan oil (roasted, nuttier in flavor, used for dipping bread and dressing salads) separately from cosmetic argan oil (unroasted, used for skin and hair), along with amlou, a spread of ground argan oil, almonds, and honey. Because cooperative-produced oil supports fair wages directly, prices are generally transparent and fixed rather than heavily negotiated, making this a straightforward stop compared to souk bargaining. Buying here also offers more assurance of authenticity than unmarked souk stalls, where diluted or lower-quality oil is sometimes sold at similar prices.
