Riad Kniza

Riad Kniza occupies a restored 18th-century merchant's house on Derb l'Hotel near Bab Doukkala, on the northern edge of the Medina close to the tanneries and the antique dealers' quarter, a 15 to 20 minute walk from Jemaa el-Fnaa. The riad is owned by a Marrakech antique dealer whose personal collection of Moroccan furniture, textiles, and artwork fills the public rooms and courtyards, giving the property a lived-in, museum-like character rather than a designed hotel look. Rooms are split across Standard, Superior, and Deluxe categories plus Suites, arranged around a central courtyard with a small plunge pool and a rooftop terrace overlooking the Medina's rooftops. The on-site restaurant serves traditional Moroccan cuisine, including cooking classes with the riad's own chefs, and breakfast is taken in the courtyard or on the terrace. Wellness is limited to a hammam rather than a full spa, in keeping with the riad's small scale, and there is no fitness center or additional pool beyond the courtyard plunge pool. Service is personal, with the owner and staff often arranging guided Medina walks and souk visits directly, suited to travelers who want a historic, family-run atmosphere over resort facilities. Rooms mix carved cedar ceilings and antique furniture pieces drawn from the owner's collection with modern bathrooms, and the surrounding neighbourhood's tanneries and workshops give guests a working, non-touristy slice of the Medina to explore just outside the door.
