North Africa's highest peak, climbed as a classic 2-day trek from Imlil through the Mizane valley to the Toubkal Refuge (3207m) and on to the summit at 4167m. A licensed mountain guide is legally required for the summit push and strongly advised for the full route; the trail is non-technical scrambling in summer but requires crampons and an ice axe when snow-covered (roughly November to May).
