Chuuk's premier waterfront resort ideal for divers and adventurers exploring Truk Lagoon's famous WWII wrecks. Comfortable bungalows with lagoon views, on-site dive shop, excellent restaurant, and knowledgeable staff for wreck diving expeditions.
Blue Lagoon Resort is positioned on the western shoreline of Weno Island, the main inhabited island of Chuuk (Truk) Atoll in Chuuk State, Federated States of Micronesia. The property fronts directly on the protected inner waters of Truk Lagoon, which contains more than sixty Japanese naval vessels and aircraft sunk during Operation Hailstone in February 1944 — one of the highest concentrations of diveable WWII wrecks anywhere in the world. Chuuk International Airport (TKK) is approximately three kilometers from the resort.
The resort was developed specifically to serve the wreck diving market that Truk Lagoon generates year-round. The accommodation layout is a row of waterfront bungalows with verandahs overlooking the lagoon, supplemented by a smaller number of garden-facing rooms at lower nightly rates. The bungalows are solidly constructed in tropical-island style — concrete bases with decorative timber accents and thatched or panel roof elements — comfortable and weatherproof without aspiring to boutique aesthetics.
Guest rooms include standard lagoon-view bungalows and superior bungalows with improved water outlooks; all include air conditioning, private bathrooms, WiFi, and outdoor verandahs. Dive packages combining nightly accommodation with daily guided wreck dives form the primary booking unit, and most guests arrive on package itineraries structured around the dive schedule.
The on-site dive shop is a full-service wreck diving operation. Daily boats depart to Truk Lagoon's signature wrecks, including the Fujikawa Maru, Shinkoku Maru, and Sankisan Maru, each penetrable to certified divers at various skill levels. Technical diving for trimix and rebreather divers is accommodated. Equipment rental, camera hire, and a basic repair facility are on site. Snorkeling from the boats is available for non-diving companions.
The waterfront restaurant serves fresh Pacific fish, Chuukese local staples, and Western-oriented dishes timed around the dive schedule — large breakfasts before morning departures and substantial dinners on return. A bar serves as the social gathering point in the evenings, with dive log comparisons and photograph reviews among the primary evening activities. Kayak rentals are available for surface exploration between dives.

Tips for visiting
- Book a dive package rather than room-only if wreck diving is the primary purpose; packages are consistently better value and simplify all logistics.
- Technical divers should confirm equipment compatibility with the dive shop in advance — trimix and rebreather support are available but require pre-trip coordination.
- Bring all specialty dive equipment (computer, torch, SMB) from home; rental gear covers basics but specialist items may not be available in Chuuk.
When to visit
