Hacienda Sotuta de Peón Bicycle and Henequen Train Tour

Hacienda Sotuta de Peón, in the municipality of Tecoh in the Mexican state of Yucatán, is a working henequen plantation that combines a working-mill demonstration, a narrow-gauge mule-drawn tram ride, a short bicycle segment, and a swim at a private cenote on the estate. The activity level is light to moderate, requiring only basic cycling ability for the bicycle segment and no special fitness for the tram ride or mill tour, making it accessible to most ages, including families with children old enough to pedal a bicycle independently. The estate provides the tram, bicycles, and guided access to the mill and cenote as part of the package price; visitors bring comfortable clothing, a swimsuit for the cenote, and a sun hat, since much of the tour takes place outdoors in open fields. Hacienda staff, rather than a third-party adventure operator, lead each group through the fibre-processing demonstration and manage the bicycle and cenote segments, with a brief orientation on bicycle handling rather than a formal risk briefing, since the route runs on flat, low-traffic estate roads. The hacienda operates year-round, and morning departures are cooler and more comfortable for both the bicycle ride and the mill tour, which takes place partly inside working sheds without air conditioning. There is no significant rainy-season closure, though a heavy downpour can shorten the outdoor cycling segment. The private cenote swim at the end of the tour serves as the main cooldown activity after the plantation walk and ride.
