Playa Andrés Sánchez Magallanes

Playa Andrés Sánchez Magallanes lies on a remote stretch of the Cárdenas municipality coastline, close to the border with Veracruz state and about 105 km west of Villahermosa. The village itself is small and largely oriented around fishing, and the beach is long, flat and almost entirely undeveloped: no boardwalk, no rental chairs, and only a handful of family-run palapas selling fried fish and shrimp on weekends. The Gulf water here shares the same brownish, sediment-heavy character as the rest of Tabasco's coast, and the open exposure means surf and currents can be stronger than at the more sheltered beaches near Paraíso. Because public transport options are limited and unreliable, a rental car is by far the most practical way to visit, following Highway 187 west through Cárdenas town and then local roads to the coast. The isolation is the main draw for travellers who want a quiet, undeveloped stretch of sand rather than any particular amenity, though visitors should bring all food, water and sun protection, since almost nothing is available on site outside weekend hours. This coastline sits close to the low-lying village of El Bosque, which has suffered severe erosion in recent years, underlining how exposed and dynamic this stretch of shore is.
