Marina San Carlos

Marina San Carlos is the working harbor at the heart of San Carlos, lined with sportfishing boats, sailboats, and dive charters operating out of the Sea of Cortez against the backdrop of Cerro Tetakawi. The marina walkway is free to stroll and gives visitors a close look at the fleet, waterfront restaurants, and the charter offices where fishing, snorkeling, and whale-watching trips are booked directly with boat operators. A visit of one to two hours covers a walk along the docks, a stop for lunch at one of the marina-facing restaurants, and time spent comparing charter options if booking a boat trip is part of the plan. Morning is the most useful time to visit for booking purposes, since same-day fishing and snorkeling charters typically depart between 7:00AM and 9:00AM and fill up as the morning goes on; visitors who only want to enjoy the marina atmosphere without booking a trip will find it pleasant throughout the day. The marina is busiest during the winter sportfishing season, when boats and their catches draw onlookers back at the docks in the afternoon, while summer sees a mix of anglers and whale-shark and manta ray tour bookings. Because Cerro Tetakawi rises directly behind the harbor, the marina is also a reliable spot for photographs pairing the boats with the twin-peaked mountain.
