Riu Cancun

Riu Cancun is a large all-inclusive resort on Boulevard Kukulcan at Km 8.5 in Cancun's Hotel Zone, Quintana Roo, Mexico, near Punta Cancun. The location at the bend of the strip places it close to the Forum by the Sea area, the Convention Center and a cluster of restaurants and clubs, with downtown Centro a short taxi or bus ride to the west. Cancun International Airport is about 20 to 25 minutes away by road. The property is one of the long-established Riu resorts on the strip and is known for a lively pool scene, a wide beachfront and a busy daily programme that appeals to couples, groups and families. Rooms include Double Rooms, Junior Suites and Family Rooms, generally with balconies or terraces and varying garden or sea outlooks. The all-inclusive plan covers a main buffet and several themed restaurants, plus bars around the pools and beach, with breakfast typically a large buffet. Facilities include a kids club, a fitness center, multiple pools and wifi, and the evening entertainment usually features shows and music. Service is typical of a high-volume resort, with a busy front desk and staff accustomed to many international guests. Listed nightly rates run from roughly MXN 2,975 to 6,300 (approximately USD 170 to 360), placing the resort in the mid-range bracket. The lively atmosphere suits visitors who like an energetic setting rather than a hushed one, and the proximity to the northern strip's nightlife makes evenings easy to arrange without long transfers. Ferries to Isla Mujeres leave from nearby docks, and the Museo Maya de Cancun and El Rey ruins lie further south along the boulevard. Beach swimming depends on weather and flag colours, and the pools are the dependable alternative.
