Fuente de Neptuno

Fuente de Neptuno is a stone fountain in the Jardín de la Corregidora area of Querétaro's historic center, attributed to the neoclassical architect Francisco Eduardo Tresguerras, one of the region's most prominent colonial-era designers. Visitors pause along the pedestrian andador to see the sculpted figure of Neptune atop a tiered basin, a compact but well-crafted example of the neoclassical fountain work found throughout the city. A visit is brief, typically 15-20 minutes, spent admiring the carving and reading any nearby historical markers before continuing along the pedestrian route to other nearby landmarks such as Jardín Zenea. The fountain photographs best in the late afternoon, when warm light hits the carved stone at an angle that brings out its relief detail. Foot traffic is steady throughout the day since the fountain sits directly on a busy pedestrian corridor, though early mornings offer the calmest viewing.
