Playa Bucerías

Playa Bucerías is a long, flat stretch of fine tan sand fronting the town of Bucerías on the Nayarit side of Banderas Bay, about 25 minutes from Puerto Vallarta's airport. The beach runs for several kilometers with a gentle, gradual slope into the water, and because it sits within the sheltered bay rather than facing the open Pacific, the surf stays mild and swimmer-friendly for most of the year, with only light chop from onshore afternoon breezes. The wide sand supports a mix of uses along its length: a lively boardwalk area near the town center with an artisan market, beachfront restaurants, and sun lounger rentals, and quieter stretches further out that draw long-distance walkers, joggers, and beachcombers. Amenities are concentrated near town, where restaurants offer loungers and restrooms to patrons and vendors sell food and drinks along the sand. There is no formal lifeguard service, though the calm bay conditions make the water generally safe for casual swimming. Bucerías retains a mixed local and expatriate community feel, distinct from the resort strip of nearby Nuevo Vallarta. It is reached easily by colectivo or taxi from both Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta, with ample informal parking along the beachfront streets.
