Salto de San Antón Waterfall Trail

The Salto de San Antón is reached by a short taxi or drive from central Cuernavaca, about 3km west via the Ayuntamiento bridge to Avenida del Salto, in the San Antón neighborhood. Parking is available informally near the entrance, and the site is open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The walking route itself covers under 1km, following paved and stepped paths through the neighborhood down to a series of viewing platforms overlooking the 36m waterfall; elevation change is minor, limited to short stairways connecting the platforms. The surface is a mix of paved walkway and stone steps, with light shade from surrounding tropical vegetation and open views at the platforms themselves. The Salto de San Antón is fed by a tributary of the Zempoala River and drops into a barranca framed by dense vegetation, with the fullest flow visible during and just after the June-to-October rainy season; in the driest months the flow can be noticeably reduced. There are no refuge huts, but local vendors sell food and drinks near the entrance and along the short approach. No natural water sources are intended for drinking. Because the walk is short and mostly paved, it functions more as a neighborhood viewpoint visit than a wilderness hike, and it pairs easily with a walk through the surrounding San Antón neighborhood, known for its pottery workshops.
