Restaurante Doña Paca

Restaurante Doña Paca is the dining room of Hotel Mansión Iturbe, occupying a colonial house directly on Pátzcuaro's Plaza Vasco de Quiroga and cooking regional Purépecha and Michoacán recipes since 1970. Breakfast is the restaurant's particular strength, running to more than thirty michoacano options rather than a generic hotel buffet, drawing both hotel guests and outside visitors specifically for the morning menu. Sopa tarasca, enchiladas placeras and chiles rellenos michoacanos anchor the lunch and dinner offering, cooked in the traditional style associated with Pátzcuaro's lakeside Purépecha communities. The dining room keeps the character of the colonial house, with plaza views, wooden furniture and a formal but unhurried pace suited to the town's slower rhythm. There is no notable wine programme; the setting and the depth of the breakfast and regional menu are the draw rather than a beverage list. Prices run 300-550 MXN per person. The restaurant closes on Mondays, and reservations are specifically recommended during Día de Muertos week, when Pátzcuaro fills with visitors for the region's best-known celebration and the restaurant's plaza-facing tables become scarce.
