Wholesale trading, aimed at florists and resellers, is heaviest Tuesday through Friday in the early morning hours, while retail stalls selling smaller bunches and arrangements to individual shoppers stay open through the day. Prices at the wholesale hours are set by volume and negotiated in bulk, while retail bunches are generally sold at posted or lightly negotiable prices; cash is the standard payment method throughout, with little card infrastructure at flower stalls. There is no tax-refund mechanism for a market of this kind. The market is organized by flower type into distinct sections, so the must-visit corners are the wholesale rose and gladiola aisles in the early morning and the retail arrangement stalls, which are busiest and most colorful, later in the day. Crowds are heaviest around Mother's Day, Day of the Dead, and Valentine's Day; food options on site are limited to informal stands rather than a dedicated dining area.
