Jalisco Nightlife Guide 2025
Discover the best bars, clubs, and evening entertainment in Jalisco.
Jalisco is Mexico's cultural heartland, birthplace of tequila, mariachi music, and the Mexican hat dance. Home to the vibrant metropolis of Guadalajara and the Pacific resort city of Puerto Vallarta, it offers a stunning blend of colonial heritage, indigenous traditions, and natural beauty.
Jalisco has two distinct nightlife capitals: Guadalajara, Mexico's second city, with a sophisticated bar and club scene in Colonia Americana, and Puerto Vallarta, one of Latin America's most celebrated LGBTQ+-friendly beach party destinations with bars along the Malecón and Zona Romántica.
Nightlife Overview
Important Note
Bars typically close at 2AM during weekdays; clubs and special venues run until 3-4AM on weekends. Puerto Vallarta's Malecón bars and some Zone Romántica clubs operate later during peak tourist season (December-April).
Nightlife by Neighborhood
Find the vibe that suits you.
Avenida Chapultepec (Colonia Americana), Guadalajara
Guadalajara's most vibrant nightlife strip stretching 1.5km through Colonia Americana. A mix of craft beer bars, mezcal cantinas, wine bars, and late-night restaurants. The crowd is primarily 25-40-year-old professionals, creatives, and university graduates.
Zona Romántica, Puerto Vallarta
The heart of Puerto Vallarta's nightlife with bars, clubs, and restaurants on Olas Altas and Lázaro Cárdenas streets. The most international and diverse scene in Jalisco, extremely welcoming to LGBTQ+ travelers, and lively until 4AM on weekends.
El Malecón, Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta's oceanfront promenade becomes a party hub at night with rooftop bars, dance clubs, and outdoor tables. The Carlos O'Brian's and La Vaquita strip clubs attract a young, international crowd.
Las 9 Esquinas Barrio, Guadalajara
A historic barrio near Guadalajara's center with independent bars, mezcalerías, and live music venues that attract a creative and alternative crowd. Much more local than the Chapultepec strip.

Nightlife Tips & Safety
Stay safe and make the most of your evenings.
Guadalajara nightlife runs later than North American standards — don't expect clubs to be busy before 11PM
Uber and Didi run 24/7 in both Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta — always use apps, never hail street taxis after midnight
Puerto Vallarta's LGBTQ+ nightlife is centered in the Zona Romántica between Lázaro Cárdenas, Olas Altas, and Los Muertos Beach
Mezcal shots are the preferred drink of choice in Guadalajara bars — pair with an orange and salt, not lime
Drink Responsibly: Mexican spirits are stronger than you may expect — tequila and mezcal at 38-46% ABV are served in large measures
During peak Puerto Vallarta season (December-March), Malecón clubs can have long queues — arrive before midnight
Safety Reminders
- Never accept drinks from strangers
