Cerro de las Noas Trail to Cristo de las Noas

The Cerro de las Noas Trail climbs to the base of the Cristo de las Noas, a 21.8-meter reinforced-concrete statue completed in 2000, in the Nueva Creacion district of Torreon, Coahuila. The trailhead is reached by taxi or rideshare to the base of Calzada de los Misterios; a teleferico (cable car) also runs to the summit for those who prefer not to walk both directions. The hiking route covers about 2.2 kilometers round trip with 180 meters of cumulative elevation gain, a short but moderately steep climb along paved switchbacks known as the Calzada de los Misterios (Way of the Mysteries), lined with stations depicting the rosary's mysteries. The surface is entirely paved, so footing is secure, though the grade is steep enough to require a steady pace; grip-soled shoes are recommended. The route is largely exposed to the sun, with little natural shade along the switchbacks. The main landmarks are the numbered rosary stations along the ascent and the Cristo de las Noas statue itself at the summit, which serves as the turnaround point and offers panoramic views over the Comarca Lagunera, the metropolitan area spanning Torreon and neighboring cities. Some hikers choose to walk up and take the cable car down, or vice versa. There are no water sources or shelters directly on the paved switchbacks, though the summit area near the statue has vendors and rest areas. Given the exposure and the strong desert heat of the Comarca Lagunera in summer, the trail is best tackled from November to March, in the cooler morning hours, when the panoramic views are also generally at their clearest.
