Encuentro Guadalupe sits at Kilometre 75 of the Tecate-Ensenada highway in El Porvenir, on the northern shoulder of the Valle de Guadalupe wine country in Baja California, Mexico. The property occupies a steep granite slope roughly 25 minutes by car from central Ensenada and about 90 minutes from the San Ysidro border crossing at Tijuana; there is no public transport into the valley, so a rental car or a hired driver is effectively required. The design is the defining feature: twenty compact EcoLoft cabins of weathered steel and glass are bolted onto the hillside on stilts, deliberately touching the granite as little as possible, so that each unit reads as a separate object scattered across the boulders rather than part of a hotel block. Every cabin has a private terrace, an outdoor fire pit and a full-height glass wall facing west over the vineyards, which means the valley and the sunset are visible from the bed. Accommodation is limited to the EcoLoft cabins and a small number of suites with larger private decks. Interiors are minimal - concrete floors, a compact bathroom, a wood-burning or gas fire - and the cabins are air-conditioned, which matters in a valley where summer afternoons regularly exceed 35 degrees Celsius. The property runs its own winery and tasting room on site, producing wines under the Encuentro label, and the restaurant serves a short seasonal menu built around Baja produce, local seafood and grilled meats, with breakfast set out for guests each morning. A dark-bottomed infinity pool is cut into the terrace below the restaurant and looks straight down the valley. Service is small-scale and informal rather than full-service resort; there is no dedicated concierge desk, but the front-desk staff arrange winery visits and can book tables at nearby kitchens such as Fauna, Deckman's and Finca Altozano, all within a fifteen-minute drive. The atmosphere is adult and quiet, oriented toward couples and small groups on wine-tasting trips, and the property is not well suited to young children given the exposed decks and steep terrain. Rates run roughly MXN 7,500 to 11,000 per night.
