Ensenada seafood cart walk

This is a self-guided walking route through central Ensenada, starting at the fish counters of Mercado Negro on Blvd. Teniente Azueta and covering roughly 700 metres of the Zona Centro waterfront; a local guide can also be arranged through the Ensenada tourist office on Blvd. Costero for those who prefer commentary along the way. The circuit runs two to three hours and takes in three or four stops: battered fish tacos eaten standing at the market counters, sea urchin and clam tostadas at La Guerrerense's cart, a smoked marlin tostada from a stand along the malecon, and a closing beer at Wendlandt's taproom. The food is entirely savoury, built around the region's cold-water seafood rather than any sweet course. Walking independently, travellers pay directly at each stall, so nothing beyond the food itself is included; the guided version bundles tastings and a fixed route into one price but still excludes extra drinks. Group sizes for the guided option are typically small, four to eight people, in Spanish or English depending on the guide, moving at an easy pace with time to watch the vendors work. Shellfish is unavoidable on this route, so travellers with shellfish allergies should plan to skip the tostada stops and stick to the fish tacos and marlin.
