Telefonica Gastro Park

Telefonica Gastro Park sits on Boulevard Agua Caliente in the Colonia Aviacion district of Tijuana, Mexico, and is widely credited with launching the city's modern street-food scene when it opened as one of the first permanent food-truck parks in Baja California. About a dozen kitchens operate from converted trailers and containers arranged around open-air communal seating, serving a rotating mix that typically includes octopus tostadas, birria ramen, wood-fired pizza, Baja-style fish tacos and Asian-Mexican fusion plates. An on-site brewery pours more than thirty taps of Baja craft beer, drawing as much of a following as the food itself, and the layout -- picnic tables, string lights, a stage for occasional live music -- gives it the feel of an outdoor food hall rather than a row of parked trucks.

The vendor lineup changes over time as trucks rotate in and out, so no two visits are guaranteed to offer the same exact menu, though the format and the beer selection stay constant. A typical visit involves ordering from two or three different trucks to sample a range of dishes, which takes ninety minutes to two and a half hours depending on how busy the kitchens are and how much time is spent at the tap wall.

Friday and Saturday evenings from about 6PM are when every truck is open and the space is at its liveliest, with the brewery running a full beer list and the communal tables filling up with groups. Weekday afternoons are much quieter, with fewer trucks operating and shorter waits, which suits a faster, less crowded meal. The park is reached in about ten minutes by Uber from Zona Rio, and street parking is available along Agua Caliente for those driving.
