Todos Santos, a Pueblo Mágico about an hour north of Cabo San Lucas on Highway 19, holds the most serious art and craft retail in Baja California Sur. The galleries concentrate on Calle Centenario and Calle Topete in the historic centre around the Teatro Márquez de León and the mission church, occupying restored brick and adobe buildings within a few walkable blocks. The offering is original work rather than souvenir stock: oil and acrylic painting, bronze and stone sculpture, hand-blown glass, studio ceramics, fine-art photography of the Baja desert and coast, hand-woven textiles, and jewellery made on site. Many of the galleries are artist-owned, and the makers — a mix of Mexican artists and long-settled American and European residents — are frequently working in the back rooms and open to discussing technique and provenance.

This is the opposite end of the market from the trinket rows of the Cabo marina. The proportion of authentic, one-off work to mass-produced import is high, and shops that stock imported crafts are generally explicit about origin. Prices reflect that: small original works, prints and craft pieces start around 800 to 2,000 pesos, mid-range paintings and glass run 3,000 to 15,000 pesos, and significant canvases and bronzes reach well beyond that. Sticker prices in galleries are firm; unlike an artisan market, negotiating is not part of the culture, though a gallery may discuss terms on a multi-piece purchase or arrange crating and international shipping. Cards are widely accepted, several galleries quote in dollars as well as pesos, and no tourist tax-refund scheme applies to art bought in Mexico — buyers exporting significant work should ask the gallery for an invoice and any documentation the piece requires.

Hours are informal, generally around 10am to 5pm, with some galleries closed Sunday or Monday and reduced opening through the hottest weeks of late summer. The atmosphere is unhurried and browsing-friendly, and the same two streets carry the town's best cafés, bakeries and restaurants, so gallery-hopping folds naturally into a half-day. The Thursday evening art walk, when galleries stay open into the evening and artists are present, is the liveliest window of the week for meeting makers directly.
