The lighthouse and open sea at the western tip of Beirut.
The Manara area gives open sea views without the crowds of Raouche. Fishermen and walkers add foreground interest. A wide lens captures the horizon at sunset, while a zoom isolates fishermen on rocks. The sea wall can be wet, so avoid slippery rocks. The promenade is free and open at all hours. Allow about an hour for the lighthouse stretch, plus 40 minutes if walking the Corniche from Ain el Mreisseh. Winter storms send spray over the sea wall, so protect lenses, and use ride-hail for the journey back after dark because the western end has fewer taxis than Hamra or Raouche.
