Dining with kids
Eating out as a family.
Lebanese, Kuwaiti and Indian restaurants welcome children; hummus, grilled chicken, machboos and biryani are easy choices.
Malls such as Arraya Centre and Al Hamra Luxury Center have food courts with children's options.
Many restaurants have a family section and high chairs; Friday lunch is the busiest family meal of the week.
Restaurants are closed in daylight during Ramadan and fill after sunset. Alcohol is banned in Kuwait, so menus carry soft drinks, fresh juice and mocktails.
Family travel tips
Practical advice for stress-free family trips.
Plan outdoor activities for early morning or after sunset from May to October; malls, Al Shaheed Park's indoor attractions and the Grand Mosque suit midday.
Strollers work well on the Gulf Road waterfront, in the malls and at Al Shaheed Park but not in the narrow, crowded Mubarakiya lanes.
Careem and Uber seldom carry child seats; a travel seat from home is the safest choice, since many Kuwaiti taxis do not provide one.
Dress modestly outside pool areas and keep behaviour restrained in public.
