Nachi Falls Teahouse

Nachi Falls Teahouse is a small traditional stop near Kumano Nachi Taisha shrine and the Nachi Falls, one of the most iconic sights along the Kumano Kodo pilgrimage network, offering pilgrims and sightseers a place to rest with simple noodle sets and mochi. Kitsune udon, topped with sweet fried tofu, is the teahouse's standard noodle dish, while warabi mochi, a soft bracken-starch sweet dusted in kinako soybean powder, and hot amazake, a lightly sweet fermented rice drink, round out the menu as traditional pilgrim refreshments. The teahouse has a rustic, wood-framed character consistent with its setting near the shrine and waterfall, with simple low seating and views toward the surrounding forest, aimed at brief rest stops rather than long meals. There is no alcohol or dedicated beverage program beyond the amazake and tea. The teahouse closes irregularly in winter and does not take reservations, so travelers hiking the Kumano Kodo or visiting Nachi Falls should treat it as a walk-in stop and check seasonal hours before planning around it.
