Lounge Hamaotsu

Lounge Hamaotsu is a lakeside cocktail lounge near Hamaotsu Port on the Otsu waterfront in Shiga Prefecture, widely regarded as the closest thing the prefecture has to a nightclub. The crowd is younger than at most Shiga nightlife venues, drawing local twenty- and thirty-somethings on weekend nights, with dress running smart-casual rather than strictly enforced. There is a small dance floor alongside lounge seating, giving the venue a dual character -- relaxed cocktail-lounge conversation earlier in the evening, shifting toward a more active dancefloor mood as DJ sets pick up later on Friday and Saturday nights. The drinks programme is cocktail-forward, with a house cocktail list alongside standard beer, wine, and spirits, priced toward the higher end of Shiga's nightlife scene. DJ sets run specifically on Friday and Saturday nights; weeknights operate as a quieter lounge with recorded background music and no dance-floor activity. A ¥1,500 cover charge applies on weekends, waived on weekdays, and there is no bottle-service programme. Hours run 18:00 to 02:00 with irregular closures; the venue does not formally require reservations, but arriving before 22:00 on weekend nights avoids the door queue that forms once the DJ sets begin.
