Mt. Ibuki, at the northern edge of Shiga near the Gifu border, is known among Japanese hikers for its summit meadows, which turn dense with wildflowers through the warmer months and have made it a long-studied site for alpine botany. A bus runs partway up from the JR line to a trailhead partway up the mountain, from which a marked path climbs through the flower fields to the summit, where small rest huts and food stalls operate in season. It's a genuine hike rather than a sightseeing stop, with several hours of walking and a real change in terrain from the bus drop-off to the top.
